part 1
" All aboard for New York city," the train conductor called. Dot looked up. Where was Tip and Herbert?. The train was about to leave without them! She looked at her gold watch on her wrist, her suitcase next to her with her purse.
" Com'n Tip, Herbert," She thought.
She promised to wait for them, they had origanally planned to meet on the bench, they said they'd be short time, to get lunch. They had to be in New York city in two days for her wedding. Then as she lost hope, they were running up, and got on the train together. Tip smiled wrly.
" Sorry, the lines were a bit longer then I expected," he said.
Dot pretended not to have noticed.
" Thats okay, at least you've got lunch, better then what the train serves," She said.
As they sat down in the lunch area, their baggadge in the compartment tucked away. Herbert pulled out a glass bottle of orange soda.
" For you Dot," He smiled.
They ate the sandwiches and pop, the train chugged along, the scenery whizzing by.
" Why did we schedule our wedding in New York city?" Dot asked.
" My family lives there," Herbert said.
She smiled, it was an ongoing question that they liked to kid each other. Tip, Dot's brother looked out the window. They were the only ones on the train, other then another couple, it was sunny, a few clouds in the sky. Tip glanced at the other couple, a business man reading a newspaper and the lady was finishing up her ice cream and pie, she was dressed up in a silk dress. The business man cought Tip's eye and they briefly smiled and he returned to his newspaper.
